Seized Wheelnut

Forum:

Hi, I have a 1990 Sportrak, and I am in the process of swopping my wheels and tyres, for another set, but one of the rear wheel nuts is seized to the stud, I have put lots of wd40 on,but it is only moving a fraction, and seems to be moving the stud !

Is the stud able to come away with the nut, or is the stud retained in the drum by some means Unknw
The dome on the top of the nut has also come away, as if it had bottomed out on the stud.
Any one got a spare stud and nut if i can get it off Unknw

Thanks Demon

Nope, the stud wont come

Nope, the stud wont come off, as it goes through wheel, brake drum, and axle flange, before terminating in a flared end behind the axle.

I would get an angle grinder, and grind the nut down to the stud, then split it with a large hammer and cold chisel. Dont worry about damaging the stud, its stuffed too. Get a replacement from wherever. You should be able to put it in by removing the brake drum, and slipping it in behind the flange.
