F75 - Rear spring replacement any tips?

Forum:

Had the drivers side rear spring on my F75 break on me yesterday. Going to do the replacement next weekend. Has anyone got any tips on replacing the sring, or is it pretty straightforward. I`ve changed leaf springs on Landy`s before and it all looks very similar

Not bad unless....

Fairly easy, need several jacks, i tend to leave the wheels on it seems to make it easier, it holds all the axle in one place and ive done several like this in this way fairly quickly, but what bushes have you got fitted? if its the metallastic ones then have a grinder at the ready with a thin disc they will be rusty as buggery, use polypropelyne jobs - milners, obviously bolt in the fronts first before the shackle end, any probs then ask again. Smile

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

It can be done with 2 jacks,

It can be done with 2 jacks, or better still, one and a body stand.
Jack the vehicle up until the wheel is just touching the ground, and chock it up with a body stand.
Now. loosen off the 4 U bolts, and 2 shackle and 1 perch bolts. Remove the shock absorber.
Jack up the spring slightly, with the jack under the spring just in front of the spring plate. Undo the 4 U bolts completely. Remove spring plate, U bolts. Lower the jack under the spring till its hanging freely, then jack back up till the jack just supports the weight of the spring. Undo and remove the shackle. Undo and remove the front spring perch bolt. Remove the spring. Installation is the reverse, but a couple of tips. Grease the top of the axle tube where the U bolts sit, grease the U bolt threads, Grease the top and bottom of the spring where the spring perches are. Jack up the spring plate and spring directly under the centre bolt, and get the U bolts fairly firm before removing jack. Use plenty of grease on shackle bushes.

Cheers lads, did the job

Cheers lads, did the job Saturday, not too bad all in all. The non-shackle end bolt was seized in the bush so had to grind it off , otherwise fairly straightforward!!
