Scratch one-s headScratch one-s head Having probs starting fourtrak. Glowplug relay clicks back and forth, have replaced but still the same. Can start it by direct heating from battery to glow plug. Once started relay continues to click for a short while. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Do not connect direct power from your battery directly to your glow plugs, Daihatsu glow plugs are rated at 7.0 or 7.5 volts, direct connection to the battery will burn the tips out.

Two problems seem evident:

Earth on the unit is no good, try connecting a temporary wire from the battery negative directly to a clean bit of the relay housing and see if this cures it.

Temperature sensing circuit faulty, this alters the time the relay operates for, cold engines will operate the relay for longer as they require more heat, warm engines operate the unit for a shorter time as they require less heat.
Check the wiring to the glow plug relay from the temperature sender, this alters the resistance to the unit, broken wires, or corroded connectors will also cause this problem, if in any doubt, replace the wiring.
