Forum:
guys, anyone converted a terios to lpg.dont need a l/rover or shogun etc, terios makes a lot of sense, need the all wheel drive, would be a long term car so cost would be recovered quite soon i think at 10/12k a year.prob get a auto tracker late model one, cheers suzyjohn.
Its A Gas
Converting a Terios does not make economic sense, they are already pretty good on fuel to begin with, converting one is possible, but expensive.
LPG is economical on large petrol engines, but not on smaller ones; currently the Government has plans to raise the duty on LPG as it becoming more popular, this would make it even less economically viable.
Add in the costs of more frequent servicing and it becomes less viable; despite claims to the contrary, vehicles DO require more frequent servicing.
Gas tanks require fitting in the boot, taking boot space, and fitting tanks in the boot has safety implications, accident investigators are finding more cases of vehicles exploding when involved in accidents, particularly rear end shunts. Further information from Fire brigades around the country, confirms this, they also have reservations about LPG conversions.
lpg
thanks for info.
terios LPG
I strongly disagree with your comments on a terios with LPG
The servicing requirement is reduced, the economics make perfect sence as the system will pay dividends for years to come especially as the owner stated it was to be a long term car, the benefits will show markedly if they go on the continent where they will not only be running on cheaper fuel they will have range doubled if going into countryside.
LPG works and the government are tied to a European agreement on how much they can increse LPG duty by for the next four years on a rolling agreement so they can not introduce any shock increases if they want to
better tell the singaporeian, Italian and Australian Daihatsu customers that they have made a mistake buying factory fit LPG terios's
