oxygen sensor

Forum:

hi everybody
i had a problem with my efi sportack feroza idling eratically and at times on a long journey it would drop to 500rpm and cut out. i did a diagnostics test but nothing came up. however i took the hose of the oxygen sensor which is near the air intake sensor. the hose is attached to the vaccum hose coming form the distributor. howver i noticed a smoother more consistent idle at about 900rpm. there was no change in the idling at all. does this mean my oxygen sensor is naked or the hose is faulthy.

need advice and solutions

Common Sensor

Sounds like the idle speed control valve is faulty, this is a stepper motor which alters the idle speed by controlling the air entering the pipe.

hi assassin

thanks for the reply. how much would it be for a idle control spped valve. and wher exactly is it located?

thanks for the reply

And I'll add to what is there by saying that I also tryed disconnecting the air flow senser when it was mucking about, and sometimes it helped it run more smoothley for a while.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Sensor.

Try disconnecting the cable from the oxygen sensor which is fitted into the top end of the exhaust system. Look between the manifold and the top pipe. Could be a problem with the sensor. If disconnecting solve it or makes it more obvious, then renew the sensor.
