I've got an Avanzato TRXX R4 and it wheel spins
at the front. Does this mean there are any major problems?
IF YES: What could the problems be???
Thank you again to everyone who replies, I really appreciate your help!

There should be a small
There should be a small "switch" in the guise of a knob underneath the front area of car that can be pulled out to enable 4wd. Mine kept doing the same as yours and I was told by a friend of mine (who worked for Daihatsu) that he had driven avanzatos with an in car switchable 4wd button (or lever) that connected to the aforementioned switch.
The best way to ensure it clicks into 4wd properly is to leave the car parked in 1st gear then as you pull the switch hold on to one of the front wheels and move the car backwards and forwards as you pull on the switch, this should enable it to click into place properly.
Personally I found it to be a waste of time as it kept popping out of 4wd so I had a metal plate made up to keep it in 4wd. However, I have since broken my gearbox and am stuck with an expensive paperweight!
Hope the info helps.
Adam.
avanzat
Oops
Sorry, somehow managed to post my comment between 2 earlier ones
Thanks for this advice
Hi Adam,
I know it was some time ago you posted this advice, but I just tried it out today. I only got my TRxx Avanzato R4 three months ago and have had it in 2WD mode since getting it due to a small leak in the transfer box to prop-shaft oil seal (didn't want to drive around in 4WD with low oil in the transfer box). Recently got that sorted and decided to try 4WD mode.
Similarly to the person above, mine just kept popping out of 4WD every time I took off. I selected first like you said, with the handbrake off, then rocked it forward a little, then into reverse and rocked it back, checking each time with my pliers to make sure it was still in 4WD. Repeated this a few times. Took it for a wee drive, with some heavy throttle in first gear to check, and that seems to be it permanently in 4WD. Hopefully it will stick on my 60 mile round trip tomorrow
Thanks!
Stuart
And 60 mile commute later in torrential rain...
...I can confirm that not only did the 4WD make one hell of a difference, but it also didn't pop out of 4WD. All is looking good.
4wd
I worked for many years as daihatsu tech,I also own avanzato trxx r4.The problem with your car is underneath on the centre diff is a selector which says pushed in for 2wd out 4wd,it should stay when selected in or out.If it jumps out there is a problem with the transfer box.Hope this helps

Sorry for the thread res but
Sorry for the thread res but if its any help I had an Avanzato that would still spin its front wheels under heavy acceleration although it was in 4wd, in fact my X4 will also spin the front wheels under heavy acceleration. I think its down to the design of the 4wd, the drive to the rear wheels seems to come off the front diff, so it would seem that the cars drive is biased towards the front.
The real thing here is how hard do you have to try to get it to wheels spin
if you are spinning wheels under fairly normal driving then yes it sounds like you are in 2wd, if its only under heavy acceleration or only in wet then thats just the way they are.
