Forum:
I have seen various ads for soundproofing load bay/ footwell mats for land rovers that are made out of a thick foam/ rubber type stuff. Does anybody know if anything like this exists for fourtraks, or if it is possible to buy on a roll?
Sounds like just the job if it lives up to its claims of being soundproofing, rot-proof, non-absorbent and insulating!:)
sound deading material
Sounds like a good idea. I would buy some to, as my partner is always commenting on the road/engine noise. It was realy noticable when had the rear seats removed.

the sound of silence
Am mainly interested in the rear load bay mat, as I have a SWB fieldman (basically a 4WD van), and the thin sheet of plastic in the back that daihatsu call a mat is only good for stopping the paint scratching.
Did have a LWB 7 seater, which was lovely and quiet, but I decided the extra load space was more use than 5 seats. Have since needed those seats more now that they aren't there than I ever did when I had them!
Silent Eyes
Check the ads in 4X4 magazines, several manufacturers make purpose built kits for Daihatsu's. Having fitted several, i have found the kits easy to install and they are very effective at deadening sound. In addition to the bulkhead fitted panels, it may be prudent (finances permitting) to also install the door deadening sound pads, these also make a significant difference, particularly to the drumming noises.
Many offer a fitting service, but anyone with a basic DIY knowledge can install them.
silence
Come on, they aren't noisy like Land Rovers. I drove a series 3 LWB for many years and many miles and unless you carpet them out they are noisy. The Daihatsu is a dream compared to those and of course I also restore MINI's and tune those, now we are talking noise.
