Hi folks,
Just to let you know if you buy milner off road leaf springs as I did beware there like well all I can say its like riding in a trailer rock hard and uncomftable.
So I got to take them off again and remove a leaf to make them softer I hope.
Alot more work still you learn by experience so if you buy them beware of this.

ODD BECAUSE I HAVE THEM AND THE RIDE IS FINE. I HAVE THE FIVE LEAF TYPE WHICH WERE ORIGINALLY FITTED TO SPORTRAKS BUT THEN LATER WERE CHANGED TO THREE LEAF WHICH MADE THE RIDE MORE SOFT AND IN MY HUMBLE OPINION WAS A DETRIMENTAL STEP TO SAVE COSTS. tHE VEHICLE, A 1991 ELXi IS STILL BETTER THAN MY OTHER WHICH IS A 1996 SPORTRAK ANJOU WHICH I WILL ADMIT IS LESS ROBUST ANDD A SOFTER RIDE ALTHOUGH I HAVE SPUN IT WHEREAS THE 1991 STICK TO THE ROAD.
THE SPORTRACK AND THE FOURTRACK WERE BUILT NOT AS SPV'S OR "Chelsea Tractors" BUT AS 4X4's AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE SO GOOD OFF ROAD. The fourtrack winning year after year Best Off Roader, in it's day.
MILNER ARE REPUTED FOR SUPPLYING GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS AND HAVE A VERY GOOD REPUTATION ON THIS SITE. Sorry I don't think you will get much support for your warning.

I agree. You must remember that Milner may be the major supplier of older 4trak bits when Daihatsu eventually stop doing spares support, which they have done for a remarkably long time, to their credit !
I think we should support any independent source of spares who proves reliable.
By comparison, I was talking to a Renault owner who alleged that spares support for his car stopped after 7 years !

Does no one read the comments and site pages on this sort of stuff??? you will see lots of odd bits about the fact that milner springs need to be avoided cos there girders, i love milner they are a great company and this is the only thing from them that they have got wrong!!
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

I object to your tone and inference that no one reads these forum postings. We are all entitled as indeed you are to our opinions and I do not see your comments as either constructive or helpful. As I have said I have run on Milners springs for 5 years now without any problem, fine I may have been lucky compared to your experience but get down off your high horse mate and let us all have our own opinions without this type of comment. Perhaps you should take your own advise on reading the forum comments about Milner Springs.

For god sake it was only a sarcastic comment, i do apoligise to anyone if i offended them, its hard to input your facial expressions into a paragraph to show what you meant, thats what ??? means, calm down Oldminiman and dont jump in with both feet!! i know you have a political back ground and like a debate etc but just ask for an explanation first before winding someone up, you dont know me, i dont know you, we are all strangers here and everything should always be taken with a pinch of salt! and im sorry but once again milner springs are crap, but the company is fantastic and i use them loads. >

Lets just leave it as a difference of opinion and get on with helping each other which I am sure we both are trying to do and wish to continue to do in support of this forum which is quite unique. You have a lot of support for the springs being crap so perhaps I just have a well padded backside.

I seemed to have opened a can of worms here I apoligise if I have upset anybody but what I was trying to say was if you buy leaf springs from milner beware they are a hard ride there helpfulness and delivery was spot on as were there price.
At the end of the day I still shall be buying parts from them.

Cheers oldminiman I was'nt trying to rubbish milner as a company I was just stating my opnion on there springs I've just received a suspension spring hanger from them next day delivery can't ask for more well you can but you wont get it.

I have Milner leafsprings
I have Milner leafsprings which were fitted just before i bought the fourtrak. I find the ride very hard and bouncy so i think I'll be replacing them. I havnt had any other problems with Milner products though.

Milner are a fantasic source for parts and I use them often, their service is second to none, when I needed a clutch kit for my F95 Fourtrack although they didn't stock one they went out of their way to get me one and delivered it the very next day for a very good price.Top people! However I have to agree with the comments regarding the springs and in the past have replaced sets on two fourtaks I have owned for that reason.If anyone wants more compliant springs I can now supply them in standard or heavy duty versions for the front and 3+1 SWB or 4+1 LWB rears, I can also supply 3+1 or 1+1 rears for the Sportrak.These springs are Swedish made and of very high quality and I have them on my cars so can recommend the ride, I can't get near Milners prices but you get what you pay for I guess. They will be on my website by the end of this week.

Perhaps everyone should read the advertisments carefully, Milners clearly states their springs are heavy duty 20% uprated for carrying heavy loads, or towing.
These are not condusive to off roading as the springs need to be softer and more compliant to maintain ground contact.
The moral appears to be read the adverts twice, ask the questions of suppliers, and ensure the correct items are ordered to suit our individual specific requirements.
