i have 1991 2.8 turbo fourtrak with 31"x 10.50 r15 tyres that hit the wings on the front when suspension is compressed how can i stop this? it is standard apart from a 2" shackle lift front and rear dont realy want a body lift ahhh can any one help?

What are your bump stops like in the front? If there are no bump stops, the wheels will hit the arches. If there are bump stops there, you can extend them by using a steel packer between the bump stop and the chassis, however you need longer bolts to do this. I have extended mine by about 20mm and the wheels (31in) still touch, however i have hilux springs which flex heaps.
Check your bump stops and let me know,

Take advice from site members re purchasing springs.
I have fitted a Milners set, advise these are very hard springs, more suitable for a load carrying truck than running light. Lots of comments on site re Milners springs and alternatives Check out the 'Milners' site for spares, really good company. Link at top of page.

As long as you put on longer shackles of 1.5" - 2" and have decent good springs to hold the chassis up you should get no rubbing at all, i have 31.10.5 r 15 tyres, no bumpstops, decent flexible springs and 2" longer shackles and get zero rubbing with alot of articulation, i am wondering if part of the problem is your leaf springs???
when the vehicle sits flat on concrete can you see the chassis rails more or less in line with the top of the tyres or way below, this could be a problem - i.e flat springs, just a thought...

hi on inspection of height my springs are quite flat and the wheels are definatly over the top of the chassis rails! i think you mite of solved the problem may be my springs are old and tiered! do you recomend any?

Think this sounds like missing front axle bump stops.
After purchasing my truck, the first mishap was broken front wheel arch extensions due to excessive vertical suspension movement after fitting 31x10.50 r15 tyres , no bump stops and worn out springs and worn out/leaking shocks, after replacing these components I have had no further problems. No shackle lift fitted. But had to lever back the mud flap brackets to give clearance on full lock.

Comments seem to have covered the problem, but there is one thing to watch when buying new coil springs; one i have come across a few times on several types of vehicle.
Aftermarket manufacturers of coil springs work to two differing specifications, these are free length, and compressed length.
Manufacturers working to free length means that when the new spring is off the vehicle, it is the same length as the original springs free length, i.e. they are the same height. Once fitted to the vehicle they may compress more than the original spring, thus giving a lower ride height, even though the spring is new.
Compressed height means that the new spring may be a different height when it is off the vehicle, to that of the original spring, but once fitted and compressed, will give the same ride height as an original new spring.
Check this as most aftermarket manufacturers are tooled up to make progressive rate springs, whereas original specification springs are not progressive rate springs.
