HI, I'm new....

Forum:

Just picked up a 93 sportrak to muck about in, just thought I'd say hello, driven off road before but in series landies. Thought I'd give summat smaller and more reliable a go.

Apart from cam,fan and power steering belts,is there anything else I really need to look at swapping or checking straight away?

Cheers,

Ray

use it

Hi Ray,
Looks like you got it covered ok, if it runs ok just use it maybe a service would do it some good but if it dont need fixing dont fix it.
Enjoy.
Alfie.

Good Servicing

Apart from what you've already said, not much; give it a good service, and check all the transmission oils, or replace for peace of mind.

Grease it regularly, again, depending on model specification, and clean out the cooling system with a good cleaner, flush copiously, and refill with a mix of 50/50 water and good quality anti freeze.

Clean off the underside of all old underbody protection, mud, and any other debris, and underseal thoroughly, preferably with a compressed air underseal gun as this will get in the hard to reach places.

Finally: fill with fuel and take her off road, read these pages when not off roading and decide what you are going to do to her next.

Servicing, new owner

As what 'Assasain ' states, change ALLL oil, diffs included, check front hubs for grease content and that they work, auto engaging hubs or manual replacements. Auto engaging hubs are prone to failier as they get older.(lack of maintenance). I have replaced mine with manual hubs, could no longer trust the auto type to engage when required via the dash switch. Its a bugger when they do not engage.!!!!!!. Do not forget the fuel and air filter either !!!!. AND the cam belt.
