speedo stopped working

hi, i got a 2.8 tdx and the gearbox is noisey gearbox, i was driving it home yesterday and all of a sudden the speedo stopped working, but the rev counter is ok, any ideas if its related the the noisey box, im selling it next week and cant warrant the miles with the speedo not working, any ideas guys

The speedo cable is most likely at fault, replace this, it is a simple job.

Speedo's are cable driven, tacho's or rev counters are electronic, so therefore are not connected in any way.

Trace the speedo cable to the gearbox, remove it at the gearbox end, usually the cable snaps here, if not it may have snapped further up. Remove the dash panel containing the speedo, trace the cable and remove it, fit the new cable into the speedo, feed it out, clip it in, and connect to the gearbox.
