Forum:
I recently bought a Fourtrak SWb (Rocky I think it says in the engine bay). Its a 94 one with wide wheel arches, and I love it! Its very dirty, so I have cleaned it and treated most of the rust. My questions are:
idle speed-what should it be? at 500-600 it runs a bit too wobbly for me, so I upped it to 700, is this ok? I did this using the little dial button under the steering wheel...
manual to electric windows-is this possible with the kits you can buy off ebay?
central locking - as above, do these kits work ok?
tyre psi - what should these be set at? i cant find anything on the truck!
does anyone have an owners manual, you know the one you get when you buy the truck new? I cant find them anywhere, and would relaly like one!
well, thanks very much guys. I love my fourtrak thus far, and plan to really look after it (that is of course afetr chucking it around off road!)
nearly forgot - door pins-my drivers door is a bit wobbly, what do i need to do to tighten these up??
Information
Idle speed should be 650RPM with the engine fully warmed, this should be set on the injection pump and not with the hand throttle.
Electric windows are possible, find someone breaking one complete, the wiring loom and switches will simply plug in, the motors will bolt straight into the doors also.
Tyre pressures are 22psi front, and 26 psi rear, this is for normal operation, raise these to 24 psi front, 30 psi rear for heavy loads or heavy towing.
For a manual look on this wed sites icons at the top of the screen, it says manuals, book type manuals such as Haynes are not available, but most queries can be answered by members of this site.
Replace the hinge pins with "C" or Selock type pins, these are a C section and made from spring steel and will compensate for most wear. If these are not successful, remove one pin at a time and carefully drill out the holes, fit a C pin of the correct size. C pins tap in and close as they are tapped in, it is imperative that the door is fully supported when drilling to keep the hinge in line.
Thanks Assassin, much
Thanks Assassin, much appreciated. The hand throttle, what is this for then? I apologise for my ignorance, I just havent seen one of these before! Will I cause any problems by using it, its just in such a convenient place it looks like it should be used or is it just for very codl starts thats sort of thing?
Where is the injection pump?
thanks!

The hand throttle is used for many things, maintaining a steady speed off road when it is bumpy and your throttle pedal is bouncing all over is the main use.
Additional uses are for when many of the accessories are used, the main one being a winch supplied by Daihatsu, these were driven from the power take off from the rear of the transfer case. These required a steady engine speed of 1500 rpm to be maintained to provide sufficient power, and an adequate speed for operation.
Many more accessories were supplied by Daihatsu depending on which market, or area of the world the vehicle was sold in.
Many drivers use this to increase the engine speed in winter to heat the engine more quickly to allow them to defrost their vehicle quicker than would normally be possible.
The injection pump is on the left hand side of the engine when viewed from the front, look for the fuel pipes and throttle cable and follow them.
thanks for this, that makes
thanks for this, that makes sense. I will take a look inside the engine bay, but to be honest its running just fine!
