water temp?

Forum:

hello all my rocky se water temp runs about 210f at idle then drops runing down the road to about 180 thats the thermo i have in it its never got in to the hot but it runs about 3/4 the way on the temp gauge the weather here is in the high 80s to low 90s dont know if that matters much but what im needing to know is 210 to hot? and do you all know a web site i can find a crank for a 1.6 L HDE im about to pull my hair out finding parts here

Temperature

This temperature is ok, you have a condition known as heat soak, basically when you are stationary you have very little air passing through the radiator and through the engine bay to cool everything, only that supplied by the fan. When you move natural airflow passes through the radiator due to the movement of your vehicle, this cools it naturally.
When you stop the same amount of heat is present, having less airflow means this heat is harder to dissipate, temperatures rise slightly and as the heat is dissipated, it slowly drops down to normal.

If you are concerned drain the coolant and fill with water, run the engine until it is hot and drain it to remove any debris in the cooling system, refill and add a coolant system cleaner. Follow its instructions and thoroughly flush the system, replace the thermostat as a precaution.
One tip is to open all the windows, sunroof, etc and when you stop put the heater on maximum heat and the fan on full blast, the heater radiator will remove quite a lot of heat.

think you

thinks for the help assassin i got rad cleaner in it right now its says to run it 3 to 6 hours in there so thats will take me a few days i got this thing with about 300.000 miles put a engine with about 60.000 in it i have 2 rads both run the same but thinks again for the help and ill try what you said after the cleaner runs its time then my next step is to transfer all the a/c stuff from my other rocky to this on Scratch one-s head

Running Hot

I don't know if it is still available but their was a liquid for Mini's that had been uprated called "wetter water" which kept the coolant cooler. It worked in my MPi Mini.
