help i have a 97 sportrak that wont start i have read that if you use a short wire between 2 terminals you can self diagnose but i notice it is on a 6 pin diagnosis plug , i have a 12 pin plug can anyone help

NON STARTER
Have a look back through the forum and you will find I did a complete piece on diagnostics and what plugs to short to get the diagnosis.

thanks for replying i had seen your piece on diagnostics but the one you talk about is a 6 pin plug and not a 15 pin plug although there are only 12 wires going into it

Sorry John, I'll have a re look at the manual but I suspect it was written for the earleir models as I got it in 96.
I suspect it will be the same 2 plugs but couldn't swear to that. If there is a difference then I'll get back to you. I also have a CD manual so will heve a look there to.

Had a look at the manuals and they only show 6. I have a 1991 and an 1996 Sporty and both have six although the latter has a proper cover on it and is black as opposed to Green. Both are located on the right side of the bulkead near the coil.
Sorry can't help on this one.
