Profitteering or what ???????, so garages make little profit on fuel , because the Gov make the the profit, but this is excessive, yes I know its a matter of supply and demand, thankfully I can mix veg oil at 50%, as I pay £1.33 a liter for diesel, and am buying Rapeseed oil at £1.07 liter.

Any one know of a garage with more expensive fuel, than £1.99.9 per liter ?????

Conned By Government

Garages make very little profit on fuel these days, as a former petrol station operator i know this only too well, my fuel profits would not even cover my business rates alone.
Look at the things petrol stations sell these days, everything from sandwiches to car washes, it is the shops that make the profits due to premuim pricing, or in simple terms, charging over the odds.

Government actually takes 81% in tax of one form or another, there are many taxes on fuel which most people are not aware of, forget the Government quoted figures, they are only quoting one of the various taxes in order to deflect the blame onto the oil companies. Only 19% of the pump price is divided between the oil producers, suppliers, refiners, transporters, and the retailers; they all have to make a profit from this while Government sits with its hands out collecting taxes for virtually no effort or cost.

Another of the Government tactics is to quote profit figures, these billions of pounds of profit sound a lot to the average person, but put this into perspective with the hundreds of trillions of pounds the oil companies have to spend. Profits for the largest profit makers amount to less than 1.5%, no other industry could survive on these miserly profit margins, when it is put into perspective it paints a different picture altogether, it is only the huge turn over of fuel which allows fuel companies to make profits.

Governmet Rip Off

I agree it is the Government that are to blame for our prices at the pump being so high and what have they done to ease the situation, well delay a further 2 p per ltr tax hype until October, what good is that.

The Government are content to watch prices go through the roof because with each up ward movement per litre their tax income increases so more money to spend on themselves.

What is needed in the UK and in Europe is a total Blockade so nothing moves. Then and only then will the Governments take action. They know the motorist will pay as there is no alternative in places like Devon and Cornwall and many others around the Country.

President Sarkcosy has suggested suspending VAT until the price per barrel settles but that is only a very small amount of the taxation. Have the other EU leaders accepted his suggestion or come up with any other...No.

France is now blockading in an effort to reduce the cost at the pump. It is still cheaper than the UK and includes road tax but it is still too high.

The UK govenment is proposing to sit and do nothing and to Hype road tax through the roof unless the people say enough is enough...will they? I very much doubt it.

The Motorist is portrayed as the bad guy both through congestion and emmissions. Brown and his clowns have screwed the motorist completely and yet his promises to improve public transport are as empty as our pockets, alway in the future ought to be is moto, like the cutting of the 10p tax rate, slyly sneeked into the previous years budget whilst accepting applauds from the MP's for his cut of 1p in the basic rate which would be the lowest basic rate for years. Those words craftly concealed the axing of the 10p rate.

The Government has borrowed itself out of recession until it can borrow no more and is now tumbling head on into a deep recession. Yeaterday, the inflation rate hit 3.3%, where do they get these figures from? Food, fuel, Mortgages, Utilities, community charge have all risen well above this figure but the government uses items that we rarely buy like electrical items to artificially reduce the price index. We all know TV's have halfed in price but do we buy one every week, do we hell as like, yet these and goods like them, are included in Brown's sums, .

The true figure is in double figures and has been for some time. Their innablity to control spending and their own greed will hit us all hard in our pockets over the coming Months if not years.

Again yesterday, Brown said that he was proposing a 0% pay increase this year for MP's salaries but that they would catch up over the next 3 years. How good of him to set a 0% trend which he is hoping, of course, we will all take heed of and follow. Great if you have just awarded yourself a £23,000, without proof, expenses account. SUNDAY 22 JUNE. LATEST NEWS IS AN OPTION TO INCREASE OF £40,000 FOR ALL MP's WHICH WILL INCLUDE THE £23k unsupported expenses. IT WOULD BE NICE TO EARN THAT KIND OF MONEY LET ALONE HAVE IT AS A RISE. Of course this will all be assumed as pay, expenses will continue be claimed and paid providing invoices are given as proof of expenditure. What a bloody rip off[b] [b]and yet we all stand for it. BEAR IN MIND THAT WHATEVER THEY GIVETHEMSELVES IT WILL BE THEM THAT VOTE FOR IT AND US THAT PAY FOR IT!!!

Thursday 19th June

Just heard that Gas prices will rise by upto 40% this winter just to add to the 3.3% inflation story above. Where does Brown expect those on fixed incomes like OAP's to get these types of huge increases from. Were we not promised by Maggie that our Northsea Gas reserves would last for many years and our investment through high taxation would ensure this? We now have to import gas so where has all this promised gas we supposedly had gone? and where has all the revenue gone from the Oil?

Every day brings more and more gloomy news from the UK about inflation, street violence, mortgage rate increases, soldiers killed fighting wars we never should be involved in etc,. I now see that we have released yet another Muslim Extreemist on bail to spread his killing messages on our streets, why to please a few and to stop fingers being pointed from across the Atlantic?

Above I said that Brown had asked for MP's to accept 0%, I am now told that the greedy gits are after 20%. Surely enough is enough and the British will do something to kerb this taxation swindle by the greedy few in Westminster. As a British tax payer I am sick to death of hearing how unsafe the streets are, how young lives are being taken every week through knife attacks and how are soldiers are being killed abroad fighting a war we can ill afford in both human sacrifice and financially.

It about time our taxes were spent in the UK providing better services, better transport, better security, better care , better teaching, I could go on. I am sick to death of hearing Brown spouting about it all being good for the future, what about now! A case in point is the spiralling cost of the 2012 Olympics, another expensive event that we will have to pay for and that we as a Nation can ill afford. Yes it would be nice if it were just Games but it's now become a circus like extravaganser and the competition seems to be of who can put on the best ceremonial displays. Yes it is regenerating a run down part of the East End but it is also killing small businesses and industries that have been their for centuries, now forced to move aside for a fortnight of games.

Again the UK presents a shop window for the world to look at and perhaps envy. Is that really what we want a painted shop window for the World with sod all but taxes on the shelves for the occupants of the UK? SORRY I get very upset at how I see the UK going, perhaps it is the same throuout the World and this certainly has nothing to do with 4x4's or Daihatsu so I will shut up. HOORAY I HEAR YOU CRY!!!

Its nearer 90% !

Assasin is correct .... 'Government actually takes 81% in tax of one form or another.'

What makes the government's take even more obnoxious is that we are taxed on income before we buy fuel. Now lets work out the governments take:-

Assuming fuel is 130p/Ltr you need to earn 163p( PAYE tax is 20%) to have 130p in your pocket. PAYE tax 33p.
Fuel tax at the pump is 81% of 130p or 105p.
Now add the PAYE tax on earnings = 33p.
Total tax to get 1 Ltr into your fuel tank = 105+33=135p

One Ltr fuel before tax is 25p. To buy 1 Ltr fuel we are paying this government 135-25 = 122p.

So IMHO 130p Ltr of fuel is raising 122p for this government to waste on useless ideas and MPs grossly inflated salaries, plus expenses, plus 2nd homes. To this add keeping a terrorist on the social at £12,000 per year, plus police watch dogs etc. [Preferably spent it on a 1st class air ticket or private jet hire, to his homeland of Jordon]

Nearer 90%

Of course this is correct but you have forgotten NI contributions which all go in to boost the Government's income as taxation.
