Not Sure if my head gasket has blown

Forum:

Hi All,
I have a very recent problem with my 92 Sportrak ELXi. Its been very reliable but on Saturday it developed a problem.
First took about 5 minutes to start, seemed like it wasn't firing on all cyclinders. Eventually fired and drove home OK. Picked up a new set up plugs to make sure it wasn't that.
When I replaced the plugs still took a little while to start.

Symptoms: When Cold, start fine, still drives well when started. When Hot, when it does start, for the first 10 seconds I have clouds of white smoke out of the exhaust. Checked the water a little low (2 litres down) but not over heating, noticed white vapour coming out of the exhaust when hot, and milky deposit on the oil cap.

Is there anything else that could cause clouds of white spoke which may contribute to this problem

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

JB

Correct .....

All the symptoms of a blown head gasket.

Deffo HGF (Head gasket

Deffo HGF (Head gasket failure).

But not such a bad job for anyone with basic mechanical know-how. About £200-250 in a garage according to some people here.

Dave, Mace. Thanks. Unfortuantly that's what I thought. Havn't replaced a HG on a Sporty before, but have replaced HG on other cars. Will give this a go. Cheers...

Skim ........

....... and have the head skimmed before it is replaced.
