HI guys, I am no mechanic, but I feel I should be able to change the belts as I have done on everyother car I have owned. This is my first fourtrak, and my first 4x4, I love it! I noticed the "fanbelt?" was looking a little bit old (slight cracks in the rubber, nothing major) so I decided to change it. I noticed I also needed to remove the power steering belt too, BUT also the fan stops me from getting the belt off. I checked my manual, but its not clear how I actually remove the viscous fan, can anyone help me? The only thing i noticed was 4 bolts on the fan, closest to the pully, but I couldnt loosen the bolt. SURELY this isnt a garage job?? I dont have any special spanners, just your usual ratchets and spanners etc...

No problem.
I would expect you to be able to lift the belt over a fan blade and feed the belt into the fan whilst turning the fan by hand, so the belt comes away when the fan had completes one complete turn.

HI Guys, quick update!
HI Guys, quick update! Thanks for the advice, I managed to change both the PAs belt and the FAN belt this morning. Took some doing but managed to prise off both belts, and not so much effort refitting the new ones. Replaces the protective cover underneath which alsoi had some troublesome bolts and am back on the road! Running nice, will re check tension in a few days.

The belt will come off by going round the fan there is no need to remove it, the biggest problem with renewing the fan/alternator belt is the fact that the power steering belt has to come off and these are SODS!! basically because they are tight and is difficult to get enough movement out of the pump pulley location to get the slack on the belt, i undo the bolts on the tensioner then pry the belt round the pulley - can be a finger nipper if not careful, good luck, p.s dont fit motorquip fan belts - youll be changing it again next year go to milners.
