Whatever you do don't try to drain the oil without removing the sump guard first, I tried this and got oil everywhere but in the container! There is only six bolts holding the sump guards on but if you can get away with just removing the back half of the guard under the sump all the better, otherwise you will need some help to refit the whole thing as its a bit of a pig trying to do it on your own.
