No electrics after fitting new battery!

Forum:

Hi, praying someone can help save my 92 sportak. She was running ok but was left standing for a few months which left the battery go flat. I bought a new battery but while fitting couldn't quite get the positive clamp on imediately which meant I rubbed the clamp across the terminal, giving power breifly, causing the relay's etc to click but then slipping away from the terminal and then obviously losing power. this happened a few times until something finally gave and left me with no familiar clicks of relays or humms of the fuel pump. so far i have noticed the following.
The hazards, headlights and horn work but no dash lights come on and nothing else works.
I have checked every fuse and relay I can find and everything seems fine.
I just bought an ecu from a scrapped sportrack of the same year/codes etc but still nothing.

I'm one step away from calling in the pro's, but as i have already spent so much time in trying to get this sorted, that would be a very sore option! please help!!!

30amp and another.

Did you check the two in-line fuses which are found against the side the 12v battery?

Coming up for a year now!

Anyone know where the fuseable links are? Im gonna have one last fiddle with her tomorrow before calling a sparky out. All this snow has made me miss driving her even more!

Yup, they along with all the

Yup, they along with all the other fuses are fine. Think it may be the relays with the metal covers in the main box next to the battery. Bridged the main one with some wire and managed to get power but didn't want to do the same to the one for the fuel pump. Anybody know where I can get these parts? There are two of them in that box in the engine bay and one in the footwell. Been to a daihatsu main dealer and they were no help whatsoever. Know of anyone on line that sells these parts?

F/L 1.0

I have looked at a wiring diagram on my full w/s manual CD.
F/L 1.0 is main fuse isolating the alternator, ignition switch, tail lights, stop lamps, rear door lock, front door locks, heater and starter motor. If other electrics are working then the fault is at the fusable link 1.0 fuse. I suggest you test the cable's conductivity goes through the fuse - the cable could be burned away or damaged.

HD-C engine.
F/L 1.0 is fuse to isolate, ignition switch, tail lights, stop lamps, rear door lock, front door locks, heater and starter motor.

F/L 0.3 is fuse to isolate the cooling fan.

F/L 0.5 is fuse to isolate horn, head dim/beam lamps, hazards

HD-D engine.
As above but note:

Head 40A ……….. same as F/L 0.5
EFI 30A …………. Injectors.

Also check the new battery terminal is not being shielded by a plastic sheath. Batteries have them when new and its easy to miss seeing them and clap onto the sheath - motor wont start etc.
