I have a 2.8 Fourtrak turbo DL50 engine in my Land Rover and it runs sweet as a nut and I'm chuffed to bits with it. But, One of the exhaust manifold gaskets is blowing a bit - so off I went to the car parts place and asked for an exhaust manifold gasket set.
Year? Don't know, but it's a DL50 chain driven cam engine.
Chassis number? Don't know it's from a Land Rover and now in my Land Rover.
Much looking in books - I've got it! and you'll need two of them.
What about the middle one? There's no listing for a middle one.
But it shows it in the manual - There is no listing.
I'll phone Daihatsu to find out...... Chassis Number!!!!! Year!!!!!!! Sorry can't help without that information - it's all on computer.
So......... can any of you good people out there who know what an engine is, tell me what I need, where I can get it from and perhaps how much it will cost me? From my manual it seems that the two outer gaskets are the same and the middle one is different.
AND is it easy to take off the exhaust manifold or do I need to take half of the engine to bits first. Those middle studs look a bit awkward!!

The middle gasket is different, the only solution seems to be to remove the manifold and take it to your parts supplier to match one up from stock. Access is provided for the mounting bolts, it is simply a matter of getting your head in and looking, and NO, the engine does not have to be stripped to remove the manifold.
If matching a gasket fails, buy an offcut of copper plate 2-3mm thick, cut new gaskets from this; this is normally used for competition engine head gaskets, but equally effective on exhaust manifold gaskets. It is a lot of work, but believe me it is worth it, you will never need another manifold gasket again.
