F70 Front propshaft grease seal (from sliding joint)

Forum:

Front propshaft from my 1985 F70 Fourtrak.
I'm trying to do this on the cheap - I've got another propshaft with decent splines, but the seal, highlighted is missing.
Does anyone know what the seal arrangement is for the sliding shafts?
Does the highlighted metal collar slide off to allow a standard oil type seal to be fitted?
If the collar slides off does it need to be heated?
Does anyone know where I can get a new seal from?
Cheers.

No, it does not come off, the

No, it does not come off, the seal is basically a rubber flap thats all.

If you want a seal between the two just use a steering rack gaitor, these are cheap and come in pairs, and dedicated or universal types.
Clean one side of the shaft, the thicker side is best, apply rubber type glue to the cleaned area and the inside of one end of the gaitor. Attach the two and secure with a tie wrap, allow to dry. Leave the other end on the sliding section free as it will slide with the shaft, or if the gaitor is long just put a tie wrap around this end, but no glue.

When you grease simply snip the tie wrap on the unbonded end and it will force the dirty grease out of this end, tie wrap again once greased.
