Both my previous and my current YRV have got a peeling effect on the headlamp's plastic. I thought that on my previous car maybe there were some nasty headlamp converters stuck on them at some point and they had spoilt the finish, but obviously not. Any one else got this on there's?

Is it like a cloudy looking effect? If so both mine and Daihatsu Daves have this on our headlights. I even have it a bit on some spare headlamps in the garage. Must be the type of plastic used

Yes they do look cloudy from certain angles, but both lights on both cars look like they are peeling. I tried all sorts on the last car to shift it but no luck.

Sounds like a faulty batch
Sounds like a faulty batch of headlights.
Jon can check any batch/date details on his spares, for comparison by other sufferers.
Other possibilities relate to plastic not liking ultraviolet light. If your car is kept outside and has the sun beating on the headlights for long periods, that could eventually cause a milky look. Also if you fit aftermarket bulbs with ineffective UV filtration the same problem can occur.
Then of course some cleaner that the plastic doesn't like could have been used.
My YRV is as old as they come, 2001, and doesn't display any symptoms of headlight degradation, spending most of its life out of the sun and not being driven much with the (aftermarket) bulbs on.
On balance though, sounds like a bad batch...wrong plastic mix, and if proved, a quiet menacing word with Daihatsu might produce a contribution to replacement.

Mine are the same but not to bad,i just keep a light coating of polish on them to reflect uv rays, seems to do the trick..

Mine have a similar problem, more like hundreds of tiny little cracks making an overall cloudy effect in certain areas.
