Really bad smoking engine

Forum:

Hi all, just got a 2002 Sirion 998cc. Great little car. I have just done the head gasket, head skimmed, full service and replaced all the belts.

Drove about 90 miles perfectly and now when I start it there is a plume of white smoke out the exhaust. When I accellerate it is black/grey.

The smoke is continuous from starting the car to when warm but does let up a bit when warm. I am susspecting the rings are gone but someone mentioned the PVC valve?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Darren

The Colour Of Smoke

Interesting comments regardingthe colour of smoke. The thing about clapped rings is that you do seem to get a whitish cloud of smoke which goes to blue and back to white. There is a German post on You Tube of a YRV which has clapped rings and you can see the white smoke along with the blue on that video. It seems that pooped rings are common on these cars.
