Exhaust
A tip. Your Sporty's 'K' manufacture could before the date for compulsory catylist. The date was set onwards during the 'K' reg manufacture. Since your Sporty is now at the age where a catylist falls apart, I suggest you check the compulsory catylist date before buying a new exhaust system. The 'K' reg Sporty runs better without a catylist and saves 10% fuel. A complete new system is also quite cheap if a catylist can be avoided. An MOT without catylist is a 'pass' provided you meet Sporty's 'K' manufactured month.

Check the price for a none catylist system!
Forgot to add --------- lift the boot carpet and check for rust/holes. The floor, just inside the rear boot door, is the weak point and Sporty often collapses with rear suspension breaking through the rear floor. At that point is is a scrapper.
...and check around the rear
...and check around the rear set belt mounts on the arches as this is another major rust area. I got round this with my work truck by removing the rear seats and belts, so it's like a small van

Hi Rob:
One common problem is head gasket failure and overheating, a simple cleaning and flushing of the cooling system is all that is required. Keep it filled with the correct mix of anti freeze and change it at the specified intervals.
Have a look in the "How It Works" section for more details.
If it has been used off road then clean the fuel tank, check and replace all the filters, and service it regularly.
Check all the electrical connections as these can corrode and lead to problems if left unchecked.
Clean and treat the undersides, fully underseal and protect the inside of the chassis rails to prevent internal and external corrosion.
From here it is a matter of servicing and getting out the grease gun to lubricate everything underneath.
thanx for that guys, its
thanx for that guys, its already had a service and ive just welded a few patches up and re undersealed it all, it seems to have bee pretty well looked after, interior and engine bay are like new, few dints and marks on the doors and wings but nothing i cant sort, aside from that its all good, oh and the rear back box wants replacing but should have one at the weekend so all looking good
