re heater plugs

Forum:

Hi all i,m going to wire up a push button switch for a little extra help this winter and need to run it through a resistor so i dont fry the plugs i have an old scrap fourtrak no heater relay left on it but is there anything else i can use of it to help my cause Many Thanks in advance Dan

easier just to wait for the

easier just to wait for the light to go out , turn off , then turn back on again till light goes out again. , repeat if necessary

but should only need it when sub zero if plugs and relay are good

thats right

separate switch is waste of time and youll actually burn out the glow plugs probably cos there being over used for too long. These engines start so easy its not required to do anything like this, pehaps you have another problem which leads you too doing this.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Totally agree with the

Totally agree with the previous two comments, just make sure everything is functioning correctly.

They are temperature sensitive which controls the amount of time the plugs are activated. You will notice the heater plug light is on for longer when cold, and goes out virtually straight away when the engine is hot.
