Rear Differential Leak

I'm the proud new owner of a Terios circa 97/98!

There is a small leak from the rear axle. Excuse my ignorance but its from the circular shaped bit in the middle of the rear axle which I am assuming its the rear differential.

How worried should I be about that. I'm talking a couple of drips a night or so. Its due a service in 2000 km, can I just hang on until then to get it sorted?

It appears to be from the

It appears to be from the cover plate from your description, so could be one of two things.

The filler bung is not fully tightened and the unit is slightly over filled, or its seal has deteriorated.

The rear differential cover gasket is broken or deteriorating.

Both simple to replace or rectify.

It could also be the oil seal on the input side of the axle, so wipe and check this, a cheap repair also.
