Forum:
When im driving along with the headlights on all of a sudden the instrument lights turn off, along with the rear sidelights. if i jiggle the light stalk about and put it from highbeam to dipped they come back on.
When they turn off/on its almost like i can hear a relay working.
Any ideas what this might be?
thanks

Or a good cleaning. Not sure
Or a good cleaning. Not sure about the side light circuit (dash lights are on this too), but quite a few people have had dip / main beam problems steming from corroded / burnt contacts in the columb. Take the stering wheels off and have a good look around for troble, befor you go trying to source a replacment part.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
yep defo
its the column all dirty or something broken in it, they suffer from dirt in the little plastic roller balls inside which move and activate contact switches, it can be a sod too get too if the steering wheel wont come off its tapered splined sleeve, these can be effin tight and requires ' T L C ' to remove it, tlc meaning sweat n blood lol
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
