Sportrak Fuel Filter...

Forum:

...Can anyone tell me where it is on the car, please? Presumably (logically) in the engine bay, but maybe somewhere else?

That cutting-out problem I had recently is still with me, and I rather suspect dislodged silt from off-road escapades in September, shaking lumps of crud out of the tank and into the fuel lines/filter(s). Tried cleaning as many jets & pipes I can, but it still cuts out unexpectedly and won't re-start for a while (drilled the tank cap air-hole - not that problem).

I'm going to strip & clean-out the tank and pump, but I simply can't "see the wood for the trees" when looking for the filter.

Assistance gratefully requested!

Baz.

check lines from tank to

check lines from tank to engine- if not visible it will be incorperated in the fuel pump/sender, when car fails to start have you def got spark at the plugs?

Cheers!

I'll have a gander under the bonnet this weekend for the gadget on the inner wing (yep, got an EFi), and if it's not there, hunt the fuel lines (assuming we're not knee-deep in predicted snow!).

Fairly sure of spark, though being internmittent fault, it's difficult to tell (I don't want to be too far from home & alone if/when it cuts out again! A bit difficult to turn the key and watch for sparks at the same time, eh?) Will endeavour to find out, though!

Many thanks, guys, for info - really appreciate it!

just get a spare spark plug

just get a spare spark plug and when it dies pull ht lead from the front plug then plug in your spare plug, lay on engine for earth and spin over, should be good strong "snapping" spark there, hope that helps, kirk
