Hello all, New poster but have been a regular reader on here.
I have a 95 Fourtrak TDX independent Timberline LWB. I have been using it over the past weekend with no problems whatsoever, today however, I experienced extreme overheating within 5 minutes of starting the fourtrak. I had to turn off the engine and wait 20 minutes before driving back home as the temperature quickly rose. What is likely to be the problem please. I would love to have my fourtrak working for the winter weather.
It could be many things: has
It could be many things: has it got anti freeze in, and is it the correct strength. If not it could have frozen and internally blocked the cooling system.
Is the thermostat working? if it is not opening it will quickly overheat.
Is the vehicle suffering from snow blocking from incorrect driving in snowy and icy conditions. Snopw blocking is where you drive too close to the vehicle in front and it throws ice and snow into your radiator. The ice and snow in contact with it melts, but that not in contact simply builds up to form a solid wall of ice. This prevents air passing through the radiator, and is not as uncommon as people think.
It was the Thermostat
I replaced the Thermostat today and it has solved the problem, glad to be back on the road again with some warm air blowing through the vents!
