Water coming from foot well heater ducts F70

Forum:

Hey,
I have water dripping out of the heater ducts in the foot well of my 1991 Fourtrak. Anyone have any idea of the cause or a solution????
Cheers,
Baldy

I'm no expert on these but I

I'm no expert on these but I would guess the heater matrix has sprung a leak. Check the coolant level to see if it's dropped. Unless there is a known issue with these whereby water pours from the ducts for some reason I think this is your best bet. Was/Is there sufficient Anti Freeze in the system?

almost def a matrix leak if

almost def a matrix leak if coolant level going down, if you have anti freeze it will be slightly oily to the touch , regards, kirk

yep

matrix, thats where it leaks, better refill the radiator and bypass the heater.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Already feckin cold.....

Already feckin cold..... Thats how I noticed the problem. Poor little Ireland was fecked but now its cold and fecked ha ha ha. Woolen under pants in situ already!!

Matrix rotton.

Remove it. Get it recored by a radiator specialist. Much cheaper than a new radiator. Don't buy a 2nd hand - it will leaking again within weeks.

Heater Matrix fecking nightmare

Finally got the matrix out after nearly 3 hrs(maybe I'm just slow but what a pain in the arse). Dash and heater box had to come out to take it out. Done now and must take it to be re-cored. Then re-assembly, I think I can remember where it all goes........

Time

Well done. Three hours sounds about the length of time it usually takes to remove the matrix.
Refitting will take about 45 minutes. Take care not to damage the heater controls when replacing the heater box. Dont forget to attach the speedo cable onto the clock!
