HELP! Idle for 12 months

Hi! Have just bought a 1997 1.6 Sportrak, my first 4x4 and my first Daihatsu. Only problem is that it hasn't moved for 12 months and has been left to the elements. It was in good running order when parked up and had just been serviced and MOT'd. Would greatly appreciate any advice with regards to starting it for the first time and any precautions I may need to take. Mark P

check theres coolant in the rad and oil in the engine.... fully charged battery and see what happens...check the oil light goes outand dont rev it until its had a few minutes running to get the oil circulating properly

Disconnect the ignition

Disconnect the ignition circuit multiplug, and remove the spark plugs. Crank the engine until the oil light goes out to prime the oil circuits, and then continue cranking in bursts.
Check the oil and coolant levels, put some fresh fuel in and start her up. Let her idle for a few minutes and watch everything to ensure there are no problems.
