best plan for alt replacement
best plan for alt replacement is to remove undertray and battery from vehicle, then de-tension all belts and remove the alternator. i found that the belts have to be very tight to stop squeeking, if its the belt loose it wont charge.
squeeking alt
mine squeeks when it;s cold and i put a load on it. i thought if i really tightened the belt it would damage the bearings??
should not squeek at all, fit
should not squeek at all, fit new belts, tighten up and they wont, save you an alternator, check charging when its not squeeking, need at least 13.5v unloaded
when,,,
when i looked i didnt think that you could undo the bolts that hold the alternator on from underneath
and belt is reasonably tight
The belts skueak for a
The belts skueak for a reason, they are not biting the pulleys, but rectifying this is simple.
When you change your belts simply sand the internal faces of the pulleys with coarse sandpaper. This removes the smooth surface and allows the belts to bite onto something.
This is a regular problem with many vehicles as the drive belts lack any traction and smooth the surface and polish it.
