2.5 DG engine (F50) Water pump

Forum:

Hi Guys, water pump on my ancient 2.5 DG engine is knackered, anyone know where I might get one or if a later pump might fit? Or anyone breaking a DG? Or has anyone had any success pressing out and repairing this type of pump?

Added as an edit- The pump looks the same as on later 2.8 engines but the local motor factors insist it's very different and cannot be interchanged. I'm not worried about heater pipes or minor plumbing issues only that it will bolt on and function. Can anyone advise?

Thanks Nev.K I would buy it

Thanks Nev.K
I would buy it in an instant if it was local to me, I'll keep an eye on it anyway. Thanks.

I dont think I will be able

I dont think I will be able to get a DG pump, Spent awhile on the phone today without success. The pump Milner do for the pre 87 F70/F75 (around £40)is looking good, seems to have an identical casting except for the small bore pipework, I'm a bit worried about the position of the pulley flange, on mine the distance from the back of the pump to the face of the pulley flange is 110mm but this might be different on the F70, especially if it has for example a viscous fan. I'll pester Milners tomorrow for some dimensions.

sorry

out of contacts and ideas now, measure like you say the na 2.8 its the only thing i can think of without pulling apart the old and replacing all parts,

I really appreciate the help,

I really appreciate the help, I eventually found a motorfactors within driving distance (just about) that had all the versions of the 2.8 pump on the shelf, I've gone with the pre 87 pump which is very close, flange is about 3mm further forward which is fine and one of the small bore water connectors (the one that loops back to the thermostat) is missing or rather there is a threaded hole in its place so needed a bit of threaded pipe. Mostly all done now but daylight ran out so an hour in the morning should see it back on the road.
Pump was only £35 inc vat so well chuffed.
