Hi All
A quick question, I have a 1996 Sportrak which sailed through the MOT 3 weeks ago with 2 advisory notes, namely brake disks & pads and fuel pipe corrosion.
I replaced the pads & disks myself and got the garage that did the MOT to replace the fuel line.
When I delivered the car to get the fuel pipe done I asked them to look into a loud bang that I hear when the car is put on full lock. They have now told me that the Tie rods need replacing as there is excessive play in them.
The question is, as the Tie rods are a critical part of the steering system surely excessive play in them would be a MOT failure?
yes it should fail on worn
yes it should fail on worn out joints, did there job well.......
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Yes they are a failure, but
Yes they are a failure, but also be aware that they can go at anytime. With the current state of the roads, particularly potholes, one good impact could turn acceptable wear into a serious problem.
