Forum:
After three years, I've had to say a final "Goodbye" to my old friend, my Sportrak - all because some stupid young fooligan in a Peegot hatch carved me up on Saturday morning as I trailered our MR2 away to trade for another car...and jack-knifed & rolled into oblivion!!!
Of course, the prat steamed off toward the horizon, leaving me & my passenger to scramble frantically out of the ejected sun-roof before the jeep might have gone "Whumph!" like they do in the movies - and luckily for us, it didn't, and we weren't seriously injured (therefore relieved). Fortune followed us, too, with the uncannily-swift arrival of a (following) Police Collision Investigation van, who radio'd everything in...
The MR2 on the trailer sustained minor damage from bumping the Sporty's wheels as the trailer shoved the tipped wreck across the carriageway, but I can repair that - sadly, though, the Daihatsu as an absolute write-off, as the shell is twisted and the roof is warped sideways...but when I retrieved my possessions from it today, it started without rattle or squeak! Bomb-proof engineering, or what??? Mega-impressed!
Anyway, it's mechanically-sound, so when I know where the insurers take it, I'll postup for anyone who's looking for good parts (only a year since I replaced the timing belt, water pump, radiator, battery, etc)...
RIP, my old friend J770 MDB (aka: 'Mandible'!)...
