knock under braking

Forum:

Anyone ever experianced a small knock when braking on the YRV TURBO.Seems to be on the passenger side and only happens when cold and only a handfull of times. When warm and car been driven nothing, until the next morning when it happens again.Checked brakes and bushes etc etc but nothing jumps out at being an obvious problem,so its starting to p**s me off..Any ideas??

Hi Mark, could it be the pads

Hi Mark, could it be the pads moving slightly as you initially brake? Even though you checked them did you check for excess movement? (easier said than done) Try going forward, do the clonk then reverse back and break and then forwards again whilst it's cold. I'm guessing that when it all warms up the metal expands and therefore no noise. I've had a few cars do this, admittedly not my turbo though. Maybe an anti rattle shim/clip has decided to not do its job. If it's not the brakes then it could be suspension related I guess.

Never thought of pad

Never thought of pad movement.Suspension seems to be all ok,at first i did think it was a dodgy spring but when you come to mention it,when i did roll forward then back and hit the brake it did clunk both times, cheers wayne i`ll check it out when the rain stops that is Wink
