Hi, Converting my old Landy to a Daihatsu 2.8TD and can't find an engine number on it? There is a milled boss on the front left side of the block (turbo side), just below the head that looks like where it should be but I can't see a number there, am I looking in the right place?? This boss doesn't look as though it has been tampered with and looks factory cut. The engine has a IHI VQ22 turbo, which narrows it down to a 1990-1999 motor I believe?
Can anyone help me identify where the engine number should be etched, or maybe a pic pointing out it's location maybe helpful. The engine came out of an converted Range Rover, so I have no idea of the original vehicle details.

Hi, The engine numbers are on the pad under the exhaust manifold towards the front of the engine, were hidden under rust and crud and are quite difficult to see. They are in the format: DL-52 with XXX/93 underneath...I think! Please can someone confirm whether the above is the correct format with a / (back slash) or whether it is actually a number 1 (in Italic, on the slant!)
Just want to get the format correct so I can inform DVLA.
