hi,
i dont suppose anybody has used a leak stopping fluid in their engine or transmission on their daihatsu have they? if so does it work? i have a leak that is coming from the trans and the engine, their both sligt but make considerable marks when parked up.... im only mainly worried about the trans drying up as it is quite whiney anyway.
hope somebody knows about this as im clueless!
cheers.
steve
when you say comes from
when you say comes from transmission and engine.....they are two different parts with two different oils inside soooo you need to clarify what is leaking because....if you suspect its engine oil coming from the bell housing of the gearbox then its a crank seal gone on the engine, need to wipe clean and clarify.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

stop leak fluid...cont
hi there,
i shall be looking at the leak tommorow and ill know further, as i am not a mechanic this could be a pricey job if the seal has gone.... hence the hopes of using the stop leak stuff, i shall look tommorow and fill you in.
were looking at the brakes tommorow also, the discs are badly warped and the drums need a good clean, i really want to get the truck restored so it is good for another 20 years! but well shall see!

DON'T DO IT
All these fancy fluids and cleaners and stop-leak-potions are a load of shite. You might as well put porridge in it. I never came across an engine that didn't ooze something from some orifice or another at some time; . If oil is coming from a seal replace the seal. Generally they can be done with some basic tools and a good manual. Otherwise bite the bullet and pay a pro to do it. If you follow a regular maintenance schedule and check/replace all your fluids and service items as necessary you will save a fortune on quack remedies.

thankyou,
thanks for the reply, recent findings show that my gearbox has died anyway so i will be replacing ALL the seals and gaskets around that area, also need to get a new gasket for the sump? but yes i have sort of come to the same conclusion as you have said! they are rubbish!!
many thanks.
