Forum:
Today I checked that the MAP sensor was conventional (ie 3 wires. 5 volt input, 0-5 volt output and a ground)
Which it is.
Anyway i had the ignition on, but MAP sensor unplugged so I could use my multimeter to check which colour wires were which.
Red = 5 volt input (was reading 4.93 volts engine off, so fine)
Blue = ground
Green = 0-5 volt output.
Anyway, turned off ignition, plugged MAP sensor connector back in, and went back inside house.
Tonight i went out to get some cigarettes, car started normal but check engine light stayed on! Grrr.
Car performed perfectly as normal.
When i got home i disconnected negative battery terminal for few seconds.
Everything fine again, no check engine light.
I guess the ECU just logged it as a fault as it could tell the MAP sensor was not plugged in when ignition on.
Clever little thing!
So question for anyone who has hit the boost cut before when driving (i have not attemped to adjust boost yet)..Does the check engine light come on for few seconds then go off (GTti does this).
Or does the check engine light stay on, and needs the battery off (or a scan tool) to reset it?
Cant say i've ever noticed
Cant say i've ever noticed any light at boost cut. When my Lambda faulted it came on and went off after doing a few miles with a new one fitted. As far as i'm aware check lights go off once the ECU feels all is ok whether a new part was fitted or was just a glitch. The code is recorded regardless

Some faults Yes the light
Some faults Yes the light will go off when it's happy again, Other faults will trigger a permanent light until cleared (such as pulling off map sensor connector with ignition on)!
Nope. All I was getting when
Nope. All I was getting when I changed my Exhaust over was overboost and the dreaded hitting a brick wall effect
When I check for any ECU fault code with the Scangauge 2 nothing comes up, and no Check engine light.

Ah that interesting, normally
Ah that interesting, normally on cars the check engine will will come on for moment when the cut occurs, then go out
BTW, I love the initial full sweeping reset of all the dials when you connect a battery and turn ignition on!
Probably quite easy to make it do that every time the ignition is turned on
