Forum:
Dear forum!
it's long time no see, as I have no problems at all with my Daihatsu. But I have problem now, and it's me to blame:
I just pulled out my warranty booklet to check if my service is due at 16 000 or 18 000, as I am almost 16 000, and I noticed that it's either at 18000 or after 2 years, so I am two months late.
Did I already lost my warranty, as I did not fulfilled my part of the deal? Or since I maintain reasoble care, I am all right?
Every dealership will have a
Every dealership will have a slightly different aproach to warranty claims and service schedule.
I wouldnt be worried....16k is obviousy under the 18k mark but 2 months over the 2 years is nothing. Had the miles slipped too then i would assume they would try to wriggle out of any claim.
When my battery went very weak at 3 yrs old my nearest dealers Premier-car laughed and said you cant claim for that or any other wear and tear serviceble part. Not happy with that, the battery should be a 5 yr version. Phoned Dealership Hepworth and they said no probem and actualy had the battery delivered within minutes of me arriving :). Same when the back section exhaust snapped and the rear roll bar bracket replacement....Premier NO....Hepworth YES.
Regards service, some items wear with use and others with time. If your mileage is realy low they shouldnt be too picky about oil, filter plugs etc it not being at 12 months although things like brake fluid and coolant are mainly done on age and not miles. High annual mileage will shorten service intervals for all.
My advice is to phone around and enquire. Do you know whats wrong with your car? I would find out from another dealers or certified back street garage what the cost of an 2yr/18k service is and what the problem would be to sort, just to make sure any warranty work is not sneaked on to the service costs
To give you an idea Premier-car have fixed cost servicing on their website -

Good luck

One thing to note is these days you are allowed to take your car to ANY VAT registered garage/mechanic and retain your warrenty, as long as any service parts are genuine or quality exact fit replacements they cannot refuse.
It's EU law "block exemption"
When i had my Sirion Rally brand new, I asked the service manager if i could servicing myself and he said fine as he knows I am competent!
So did all the servicing myself, and just kept a record on paper inside the service booklet.
The car did need a replacement alternator at 20,000 miles (started whining), Dealer replaced it without quibble even though the car had never been back to them for service.
thanks guys, there is nothing
