YRV in distress!

Evening,

I'm new to this site but your advice seems priceless so here goes ...
My 2001 YRV overheated the other week and I'm being totally messed around by my garage!
I had one sensor changed but it made no difference and now another (trusted) garage has run a diagnostic and says the ECU needs replacing.

I've seen one on a very well know auction site but I need the ECU number - can anyone tell where I'd find the actual ECU??

I'm running with the air con ON all the time to keep the fan going so she dosn't overheat again but this is not ideal now winters coming... any other thoughts or ideas would be very much appreciated.

First of all , be VERY careful of the old "ECU needs replacing scam"

Very unlikely if car starts and drives. In 16 years I have never come across a faulty Daihatsu (Denso made) ECU.

I cant see how engine overheating has anything to do with ECU!

Sounds like you have a cooling system fault, Maybe something simply like a stuck thermostat or failing water pump, fan switch sensor or cooling fan itself.

Thanks - thats the problem, having to reply on whats others say!
I thought it odd about the ECU - the car runs like a dream - best I've ever had :):)

I've only had her (2nd hand from car dealer) since Nov 2010 and this is the first time I've had any problems (apart from a caliper).

When the AA chap rescued me, he tested the fan worked (once he bypassed the relay), the relay seemed to be working ok oo after testing - but the car (or computer) doesn't know to activate the fan when she gets hot - hence I'm running the aircon.
I've replaced the water sensor as originally advised but no good.

I really don't and can't afford to be replacing an ECU without cause to Sad

Recently we bought a YRV and it comes with a Multi Av System, it's been faulty ever since, it has a stuck cd inside and we dont know how to retrieve it, we also dont know how to dismount the unit, can any of you guys tell me how can we fix it please?
