replacement water pump inlet wrong diameter?

Forum:

Hi

Been lurking for a few weeks since I bought a '96 993cc Hi-jet MPV (S85 with CB42 engine I think). What a nightmare getting hold of service manuals, think it would have been easier to get one for a Tomahawk Missile!!.

Anyway, had to replace water pump, got it all off (including the timing belt first so gonna replace it as I don't know if/when it was done), got it all bolted back on and realised that the inlet (overflow?) pipe on the new pump is 8mm(?) and straight and the old one was 10mm and 90degree, the metal water pipe it leads off is 10mm, the bit of shaped pipe I've got doesn't fit..anyone else had this problem? And more importantly a solution?

Any advice much appreciated...

Can you not just use a section of 8-10mm bore decent hose (fuel hose ideal) with 2 jubilee clips to join it?

Finally sorted it with a

Finally sorted it with a 10-6mm reducer and some 6mm ID braided hose, the formed pipe is needed because otherwise the pipe fouls the alternator....
