Timing Belt Tensioner and Idler Wear - F78 113K

Forum:

Folks,

I'm just contemplating doing the belt. Do the tensioner/idler usually need doing at this age? With my Monterey, there was some wear, but nothing too serious at this mileage.

Observations/experiences welcome!

obviously its always at owners risk, on 2 of my traks, this time round only the belts have been changed 60k as pulleys done before, again at own risk, look for wear.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Its always better to change

Its always better to change them just to prevent any damage, you can with care, dismantle them and just replace the bearings in them. Look at the side of the bearing and you will see its four figure identification number on the side.
