Forum:
Hello, I have just bought an Sirion 1.3 automatic K3-VE2 2003 mod.
I came across this site which seems very good and contains a lot of good information.
I like to de some jobs on the car myself and therfor a workshop manual will be very helpful.
I have tryed on e-bay, but only for 2005 and newer i find.
Someone on here who have a Sirion 1,3 workshop manual on CD?
I will pay all expenses for copy, postage etc
What is the main different for engine K3-VE2 102hp in 2001-2005 mod
and K3-VE 65 hp in 2005-2009 mod

The main differences with K3-VE2. It runs more compression ratio, plus different ECU mapping (95 ron minimum) to produce higher peak BHP.
Merry Christmas !!

Sirion 2003 small and greate car
Welcome!
Good choice: A great reliable easy and pretty spirited vehicle.
Don't get too carried away (loose concentration) when driving: This light bastard can easily get at 120 kph with very light glass pedal push and you may find the next tight corner coming tooooo fast at you!
Be very careful on throttle release inside a fast corner: the tail very easily comes around to bite you with stock suspension!
Do change the transmission ATF at each 40 000-50 000 kms (even if Daihatsu says to do so at 80 000 kms): The differential is also lubricated by the ATF and this breaks down and blackens the fluid much quicker than what the owner's manual says, particularly if you push hard in summer temperatures. (Of course, here the temperatures are much higher than Northern Europe but better be safe).
You cannot completely change the ATF by just pulling away the drip plug and topping over because (as usual with automatics) the torque converter clutch holds about half the transmissions ATF and it only circulates through there when the engine runs.
So, you do 2-3 ATF oil changes in order to have little old ATF and lots of new ATF in the final remaining mixture at the expense of throwing away new ATF after change #1....
Best to do a single ATF change every 20 000 kms so you end up with good enough ATF always in there. A single change takes out about 1.8 to 2.0 lt so this is the quantity you must put again in through the dipstick. Better put a 0.1 lt less than what you took out and top over after checking the dipstick level (mind that warm ATF is bigger than the cold!).
Finally, remember to check the ATF level with the gearbox warmed up and the engine running.
Good all around summer/wet tires: Dunlop Fast Response 185/60/R14!
Consumption on econo mode 100-110 kph rural commuting: ~ 6,5lt/100kms.
May you enjoy countless safe and happy kilometers!
