Yellow YRV Turbo Information...

Forum:

Just seen this yellow YRV turbo(on autotrader) for sale and it seems like a baragin...
Anyone on here know anything about the history of the car?
I think it must be worth at least £1k?
It'll be a good upgrade to the premium manual I'm driving at the moment.
Thank you very much...

Which Turbo? Where?

Great guess,Pocketrocket!

Looks great. The Cat D should

Looks great. The Cat D should be well sorted after 4 years and being such a low price it's not as though the Cat D will affect its future value. I love the look of these cars and they do get excellent raps from their owners.

I was driving my Daihatsu today that has YRV turbo on Display......;-)

That's right we all rap about our cars SmileWink

On a serious note make sure everything looks right. The biggest issues on these is the autobox, and the must for a fluid change. The handbook does state 6years the fluid needs to be replaced. Also if you are going to have a look, make sure it is not warmed up first as the Autobox issue may not show if indeed it has one.

A round trip of about 275

A round trip of about 275 miles earlier to view the YRV turbo.
Mileage is 69K with service history upto around 35K.
Anyone know of Sharow Garage? Mostly serviced by them in the early years.
No recent history. The seller said he had owned it around two years.
The previous owner was from Birmingham as well.IIRC,4 previous owners or was it 5? Around that.
He said he was going to 'do it up' but started car-trading so never got round to it.
The current MOT expires in May 2012.I saw there were advisories, don't know what though?
Cat D back in 2006/07,he didn't know...he said front nearside wing was replaced and later on,he said the front wishbone was replaced(nearside).Maybe he knew more than he was willing to disclose?
Started the engine, the fan belt was squealling for about two or three minutes then was very quiet once settled down.Idles quieter the my YRV.
There was no flashing D or anything flashing in the instrument clocks.
I wasn't able to test drive it because it was parked behind three other cars.
Straightaway,I saw the rear nearside wheelarch was severely rusted from behind...holes soon,I expect. This was very off-putting.
The rear offside wheelarch has 'light' rotting as well.
Very disappointed with the condition of the rear wheelarches.Considering my own YRV is a 2001'Y'reg,it has no rust whatsoever. Some scratches and dents, though.
The bonnet vent and both wing mirrors were very faded.
The bonnet had a few heavy stone chips in the past and these are now all rusted and very visible.
The engine bay wasn't very clean at all.The front section of the engine seemed very 'chalky'..sort of like some water damage in the past? Or leaking bonnet vent? I've seen much cleaner engine bays on other turbo's for sale.
All the wheels are corroded as well, water damage on the lacquer?...once again, disappointed.
I liked the roof aerial though.LOL!
Also,it still had the double tailpipes.
Without driving the car I can't really say if it drives good or bad.
The seller said it drives 'perfect'...I'm worried about the front nearside damage the car had received.Don't know for sure if the damage was fixed properly.
For the money he's asking I think it's borderline ok value.
The seller could of cleaned and polished it to make it more enticing. The interior need a good clean and vacuum as well.
I'm afraid it just didn't tug at my heartstrings at all.Such a shame,I was really looking forward to viewing it on the way up.
In my opinion, the bodywork let the car down.I'm probably just being picky.
One good thing was the seller was willing to take my YRV in part exchange for around £300...although I was thinking at least £4-500.LOL
My YRV has MOT until 08/12 and taxed until 09/12.

After I thought about it all,I decided to 'think about it' and walked away.
This is the second time I've ever seen a yellow YRV turbo and I could say I won't be viewing another yellow one unless it's in very good condition.
I think maybe a silver or black one for me.

Sorry to read this. I take

Sorry to read this. I take it you have seen the Turbo that has come up for Sale on Autotrader? It's a private seller and wants £2,495 for it with 60K on the clock and judging by the pics looks a winner.

The advisory could be rust on the sills. Mine had got bad that I had to have some welding done to solve it to pass the M.O.T. It's down to the sport side skirts trapping water Sad

Black and Red Turbos are quite rare, followed by Silver. Seems that Daihatsu imported a lot of Yellow Turbo R's Smile

Well at least you looked,

Well at least you looked, Sounds like what the trade will call...a Dog!

I guess he is trying his luck before he calls "we buy any car.com"

If it was "Sharoe Green

If it was "Sharoe Green Garage" they are a Daihatsu Main Dealer in Preston, Lancs - where I bought mine from. They sold lots of Turbos, mainly yellow ones.
