.

Too rare to scrap! If it's cheap and you have space, save it. Where is the rust and how bad is it?

Was this the same one that was on Ebay?

Did anyone here buy it?

I loved mine wish I had never sold it but as said before the gearbox, transfer box and diffs were always a weakness, I was always worried about breaking it

You really have to watch the

You really have to watch the driveline on these. Almost all of them will need a rebuild on the differential at some stage of their life even if the car is standard.

I have driven one once, Quite good fun and due to the size it feels fast. Performance drops off quite a bit once speed builds and into 3rd gear. So dont expect impreza beating pace like the GTti.

Avanzato

In my opinion it's definately worth keeping a zato on the road, although I am slightly biased, owning two of them.

Like others have said though you have to be wary of gearbox/diff issues. They can be rebuilt if caught early enough. The other notable issue is with the turbo, it tends to 'coke' if not allowed to cool properly. Apparently its something to do with the oil return feed pipe being slightly too small or so ive been told.

I have written a buyers guide on kkitp.com where there are a number of avanzato owners, heres a direct link to the guide, I hope it helps:-

Good article really want

Good article really want another one now!

I should also mention that mine had done 86K miles when I sold it. It was still on the original gearbox and turbo, it had been serviced every 3000 miles since new (including gearbox and diff oil a few times). I have heard of some examples where the gearbox went as early 30K miles goes to show it has a lot to do with how its been treated.

Turbo premature wear problems

Turbo premature wear problems can sometimes be the oil feed line union bolt on the turbo itself, there is a restrictor hole on this bolt to reduce oil flow through the turbo (on purpose because the turbo does not want to be flooded with large oil supply)

This restrictor hole can gum up with poor oil or poor servicing.

Very simple to occasionally unbolt and soak the union bolt in some petrol or gunk to ensure it is clean of any carbonised oil.

Same for the oil supply line, It's worth being sure it's clean and free of any buildup.

Id love to drive one of these

Id love to drive one of these things so much!

You should certainly keep it. Even if you decided you didn't have the time and funds to do it up im sure someone would buy it.
