Yep sounds like the relay to me. On the YRV the indicator relay is located where the fuses are in the inside cabin on the passenger side. Failling that it could be in amongst the other relays and fuses found in the engine bay?
The japanese usually call these 'winker' relays

I take it you didn't get an owners manual with your vehicle? There normally mentioned in the manual.
) and behind a plastic piece that is clipped in. It might be the same on the Hijet?
I can only tell you that on the YRV the fuses and hazard/winker relay is located under the steering column (drivers side and NOT the passenger side
A quick Google search found this that might help:

?
hi i have found the relays and taken each one out at a time and reconected the battery but the lights are still on.could it be a standerd fuse or maybe an earth thats gone wrong?
thankyou for your help
When you say you have taken
When you say you have taken out every single relay? Did any of them have Hazzard or Indicator or Winker written on them?
And if there was then I would replace the relay with a known working one to look at correcting the problem.
On the YRV there is a fuse/power junction box inside the car, and a Fuse/Relay box in the engine bay. The Relay for the Hazards/Indicators on the YRV is connected to the main junction box on this model. I am still thinking a dodgy relay.

i cant see any sign of anything wrote on them to confirm they work the blinkes. today iv taken them all out again and they are still on even with no relays inserted.there is one relay under the dash and two under the passenger seat in the engin bay. could it be anything eles? i will get some new relays tomorrow and see if that helps.
Ideally You will need a
Ideally You will need a Wiring Diagram for the Hi-Jet. If you have removed all relays then either:
1).. The Hijet you have has been bypassed in the electrics
2).. There is still a relay you have missed
Cannot see how the indicators would stay on, unless there is a problem with the Hazzard switch or indicator stalk?
