ditto

had the same issue myself, turnes out it takes a bit of persuation to get it off, i had to slowly pry and scrape the old sump gasket away with a stanly knife until i had a slight opening and then it came away, however there was still a bit of faff to get it over the rods etc but it did come out! perservearance was key for me! great sense of satisfaction when i heard the noise of it releasing though!

(which came first, the chicken or the egg...???)

Thanks Goose for the more

Thanks Goose for the more useful responce. I obviously did not make myself clear enough in my original post. The sump is already loose and away from the block but I cannot find that magic angle or position to get it out from under the car. With some cars it is necessary to part lift the engine first but if you say it does come off I will try the perservearance system first. Failling that I can drop the front diff and shafts.
