Forum:
For those who are interested in a diff lock for your Rocky(Fourtrak) here is the website to check out.
http://www.tractech.com/app4.html
Note the listing refers to Rocky. This is not the USA Rocky(Feroza/Sportrak) It also lists rear only. The diffs are essentially the same front and rear, so the Detriots will fit both diffs. Only difference between diffs is the front has only 2 spider gears, as opposed to 4 on the rear.
Hope this helps those wanting a real off road weapon

Diff lock for Rocky
Yes, I also got the same answer from tractech
They told me that if I order 100 they would bring them back on the market. Where to go from here...???
try and drum up support
The only way would be to try and get a long list of people who would definately buy the diff lock. Obviously would need to ask further than this site tho. If u get 100 people or 100 difflocks which would be ordered for sure. Then contact them again and tell them and maybe pass the names and ways to contact the potential customers and they may start making them again.

Ok then, I am curious. Does ANYONE on this list have a F series Rocky/Fourtrak/Rugger with Detriot Lockers, or any other type of locker fitted. Im not talking about those who have transplanted Hilux diffs, nor those who have welded their diffs up, but real aftermarket locking differentials in their Daihatsu diffs. I have two. Am I the most fortunate Daihatsu owner in the world????

diff lock for F50
FORGET THE DETROIT!
We already made for F50 (spline 29) and we've tested it. It's running great. We also made locker for F7# series (spline 30) but we had not tested it yet. Now we were under experiment for 'on demand' locker. We'll let you know the result soon.

I have an F20, it is the same as the F50 with 29 splines. Are there any of your lockers in the UK? Could I get one? What do they cost?
The F50 and 20 diffs are
The F50 and 20 diffs are diffrent gear ratios. The F20 is lower. The half shafts are the same.

Diff lock for Rocky by welding
Does anyone know how to lock the diff by welding the gears or part of them?
I hear it's a crule but effective way to get the job don }:)
Dissmantel the diff. Throw a
Dissmantel the diff. Throw away the two spockets in the centre that carry drive between the half shafts. Then weld the remaning two sprockets (the ones halfshafts come through). You need to be agresive withe the welder, compleatly melt the sprokits and theire barings into the carrier.

You just weld all the planeta
You just weld all the planetary gears together with plenty of weld a method we use a lot in banger racing
Re: Diff locker
Presumably the locker is just the planetary gears and carrier etc and the crown wheel just bolts to that as it does in the original and uses the same pinion, therefore the ratio difference shouldn't make any difference.
Anyway, this is a really old thread and I have given up the idea of finding a locker to fit.
I am interested in a pair of propshafts for a 4 speed F20 or F50 as I will probably swap my crunched 5 speed box for a spare 4 speed which seems to be much stronger.
Regards - Alastair.
