sirion drivers side mirror

Forum:

sirion drivers side mirror motor clicking on the folding mechanism need help the click is driving me mad
please help
many thanks
dave

Sounds like the motor has had it

Could be the motor has started to die. If its the same as the ones on the JDM YRV Mirrors I have, the motors themselves do the stopping and starting. so maybe something in the motor is starting to go Sad

I do have some spare mirrors off a sirion in a blue colour if your interested?

Couple of options

Hi,

Tony is pretty much correct, but as I suspect and it sounds the same as the JDM YRV Power folding mirrors, there are 2 wires which control the open and closing power signal to both of the motors on each side (These 2 wires would be split off from one another to provide power to both mirrors). The actual switch gives power to the motors. SO if it is only one door mirror motor giving you the problem then it wont be the switch in my opinion, as both motors would have to be playing up, unless one of the wires is shorting on metal perhaps?

Here are your options:

1).. Remove the switch from the dashboard and pull off the connector from the switch, this will stop all power going to both of the mirrors, but will also mean you cannot adjust the mirrors and the angles Sad

2).. As above, but buy a standard YRV non-power folder mirror switch to replace the power folding one as these are the same switch and have the 2 connectors missing which would be for the power folding option. I have one going spare and feel free to PM me for a price on this including postage if you want to buy this off me Smile or if both mirros are doing the same thing I also have the power folding option switch for sale as well Wink

3).. As point 1 but then take your door card off and remove the mirror, open up the mirror housing and do a transplant of a replacement power folding motor. Again I can sell you a power folding motor, so feel free to PM me for a price including postage if you want to buy this off me. Smile

Good luck Wink

Ah! didn't think of that

Yes Jon, if one mirror's mechanism is ok and the other's isn't it can't be the common switch (unless it's a double pole switch).

Certainly something in the mechanism switches off the power once the movement is completed - except not in this case. I can imagine a simple system to do this, but Jap systems are rarely simple!

As I've never had my hands on such electric folding door mirrors I can go no further, sorry.

Switch problem

Sounds more like a switch problem than a motor problem. There is likely to be a 'soft recycle' limit stop for the motor drive. It sounds as if the actuation switch is remaining on, repeatedly driving the mechanism against the stop.

You'll gather I have no experience of the problem, but if you get behind the switch and remove the push on wire connectors one at a time if they are individual, or pull off the multi connector, that should solve your immediate problem.
